![]() An Unexpected Grace- Kristin Von Kreisler **** An Unexpected Grace is one of those books that I picked up on a whim and in a time crunch as the hubby was waiting for me in the car, places to go and things to do! We were on vacation in Hershey, PA and I had read the three books I brought along on the car ride down and during his first 6 games of tournament bowling. I grabbed An Unexpected Grace and one other book and headed for the register after only glimpsing over the back cover. I must have a good instinct when it comes to rushed selection because I loved this book. Grace is a previously abused Golden Retriever rescued (or rather stolen from her torture tether) by a concerned neighbor and brought into rescue where she ends up under the care of Lila, a dog fearful individual who recently survived a rampage shooting in her office building. Grace senses Lila's lack of interest and heightened fear and remains distant...at first. Lila and Grace travel the road of recovery together and ultimately have each other to thank for their progress. Grace's soulful, pleading eyes are enough to pull Lila from a world of fear and hesitation and embrace her in the love and companionship of Grace, never feeling truly alone again. I HIGHLY recommend this book. P.S. No one, human nor fur human, pass away in this book so it's an even better read for us animal lovers!
