I've decided to do something a little crazy this November...
I'll be participating in NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo began in July of 1999 with roughly 21 participates but has expanded to include over 200,000 writers who, combined, wrote 2.8 billion words by the close of November in 2010. NaNoWriMo was moved to November to take advantage of the gloomy weather that often consumes much of the country during this time of year.
The goal is to start and complete a 50,000 word novel between November 1st and November 30th. The focus is more on word count and less on quality, with the idea, to "bang" out the book and edit later.
Once a writer has successfully registered and been accepted into the program, their novels progress, including word count, is tracked through the NaNoWriMo website. Thousands register, but only a handful successfully complete the challenge. Wish me luck!!!
