The more and more I see on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and any other social media related account, the more I am realizing Donald Trump is not the issue. The issue is an abundance of ignorant, nonsensical, delusional and self-righteous individuals who feel the need to be belligerent, out-of-control and immature loose cannons. Did I vote for Trump, no. Do I agree or condone many of the remarks and bigotry statements that came land sliding out of his mouth, absolutely not. BUT regardless of what was said, he is the next president of the United States…though, I am not too sure how much of this nation can still be described using the term “united?” My husband didn’t understand why I was upset by the outcome of the election. It was, and is not, because the candidate I thought fit was not elected, but rather I feared the verbal garbage spewed by Trump during his campaign would only serve as fuel for those lacking a moral compass. Trump was smart, he played his hand well. He said what he knew would gain him votes, also knowing it would fuel rage in others. Regardless of whether or not Mr. Trump’s dialect was true to his views or political standings, the manner and words chosen during his speeches and or debates was ill-mannered and grotesque, and has only provided ignorance with ammo. Whether you are white, black, Latino, gay, straight, bisexual or any other attribute you identify with, WE ARE ALL PEOPLE, and whether or not you agree or disagree with a political view does NOT give you the right to act as a pompous ass. Learn to hold your tongue, or speak with dignity and intelligence. Name calling is child’s play and makes you look all the more uneducated and pretentious. Share your viewpoint, share your opinion, but do so in a manner that brings credence to your perspective, otherwise your words are empty missiles with meaningless targets. This is NOT a post to render debate or insight argument. This is a post begging for adults to act like adults. Use your words; meaningful, insightful words. My meager opinion means very little in the scheme of things, but at least I know my opinion was shared with respect and can be taken at face value. I am so, incredibly disappointed with the current state this country is in and the potty mouths some of my “friends” have. Not to mention the deplorable actions that many of them have partaken in, so very un-American, and just ignorant.
